Between the impressive green mountain and the endless blue of the sea and the sky, lays the 1 km long shingle beach – the most outstanding asset that Barbati has to offer. Scattered with old olive trees, the beach is well away from the road and offers crystal clear, emerald colour water. Barbati has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Community for its cleanliness and water quality, ensuring safe and high quality waters and you’ll find yourself swimming with loads of peaceful fish around your feet.
There are 3 paths down to the beach from the main road of Barbati and you can choose your favourite spot according to your wishes and needs. The beach offers all the amenities needed, including toilets, showers and changing cabins. In addition, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants, where you can hide from the mid-day sun, have some delicious food and a cold beverage. You can also rent lounges and umbrellas on the beach, where staff will come and deliver you coffee without having to move.
The beach is ideal for snorkelling and paddling and you can enjoy a wide range of water sports like paragliding, jet ski, water ski, banana and ringo rides. You can also go diving or rent a boat for an unforgettable daytrip to the sandy and pebbly little beaches and caves along the coast. Exploring the north part of the island with the beautiful bays, you can visit the small harbor of Kouloura, the traditional fishing village of Agios Stephanos and the lively and popular resort of Kassiopi.
So why don’t you lie down under an old olive grove or pick a sun bed, order a drink and start sipping your coffee or cocktail while basking in the warm sun, gazing over the endless blue sea?
